In the Beginning

 The White Dog Co did not start as a business.  It began as a personal desire to honor fallen law enforcement officers.  I often say that "I bleed blue" because I have a great respect for the police officers who continue to put their livers on the line to serve and protect their communities.  

In December of 2020 I approached my church leadership about the possibility of displaying a Christmas tree that would be decorated in blue and would hold an ornament for each fallen officer of 2021.  I began researching ways to create those personalized ornaments and bought a die cutting machine.  

At that time I had no interest in creating things to sell or even in making things for myself.  And then I made my first flour sack tea towel and posted the picture on my Facebook page.  I began to get requests to sell them, and not being one to turn down money, I jumped in and opened an Etsy shop.  

Funny thing, when I went to open the Etsy shop, I discovered that I already had one!  Years ago I had created an Etsy shop with the intent of selling photographs I had taken.  

So yeah, my Etsy shop currently looks pretty sad. It states that I've been in business since 2009 and only have 7 sales.  Most of that time my sad little shop sat ignored and forgotten.  Now interest is up and I'm preparing orders regularly - online and offline.  

But here is a look at the Christmas tree that started it all back in December.
